In recent years, scientists have found that the effects of genetically modified (GM) food are more complex and unpredictable than had been foreseen. Governments and regulatory agencies worldwide have displayed growing caution in response to this new understanding, and the ever-increasing uncertainty about the safety of GM crops for both human health and the environment.
