Dr Malte Meinshausen, from Germany’s world-renowned Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, presents how we are pushing the climate system to breaking point.
While the world’s leaders have not agreed on much, a 2 degree target as part of the Copenhagen Accord has been widely accepted. Now it’s more important than ever that we understand the likely implications of 2 degrees of warming.
This target may represent the current political reality, but little focus has been given to the likely catastrophic effects on global food productivity, mass biodiversity loss, enormous human health impacts and national security.
What does advocating for 2 degrees mean, why has much of the world accepted this target and is it possible to avoid it?
Join this vital conversation including panel with Fiona Armstrong (Climate & Health Alliance) and David Spratt (Climate Code Red).
